Transmission contemporary sculpture
Giving shape to his own fantasy world in the most bizarre way, Van Overbeek produces incisive sculptures of and about people.People totally enthral him, and sculptures often portray half- human, half-fabulous beings- for example, the female figure with an elephant's head included in this exhibition. Van Overbeek's mastery of many different sculptural techniques could equally be called fabulous, as can be seen here in the alabaster figure Badpak (swimsuit) and the sculpture vrouw naast muur (woman by a Wall)
